September 29 @ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

I am looking to curate a quilt exhibit at NCCA-Artsplace in Fremont, October 2 through November 9 with an October 5 reception. Looking for quilts of all kinds from paper piecing to whole cloth.

October 2 – November 9

Stitches In Time: Regional Quilt Exhibit

Reception October 5, 10:00 – Noon

NCCA-Artsplace Jansma Gallery

Featuring quilt artwork from regional artists and quilt guilds. Quilting is a tradition, sometimes necessity, and a fine art form recognized around the world from many cultures. The fine art is handed down by generations of crafters, shared patterns tells stories, and each new generation puts their own creativity allowing new techniques and materials to infuse the quilts in the process.

Stop in to enjoy quilt landscapes, full cloth quilting, traditional pieced patterns as well as art quilts with experimental and contemporary processes.

To compliment the Stitches In Time exhibit NCCA-Artsplace is hosting a landscape quilting workshop by Dr. Susan Kruszynski, a fabric dying workshop by Kay Brennan and batik fabric workshop.

NCCA-Artsplace has a secure space, always monitored by paid staff, white gloves, lighting, labeling, insurance and we promote the exhibit in the Newaygo County Arts & Culture Connections newsletter that is direct mailed to 2000 and distributed regionally to 500 more.  We’ll be featuring a workshop by Dr. Susan Kruszynski during that time as well as a shibori dying workshop and a batik fabric workshop.

Interested artisans can submit quality images of their quilts with your name, type of quilting, and contact information to . You may also deliver the same information to NCCA-Artsplace 13 E. Main Street, Fremont, MI 49412. I would prefer a pocket to hang the quilt if possible but if not, I can use café clips, pins, lay small quilts flat or use quilt racks. We have over 120 linear feet of (10ft high) wall to use, as well as display racks, pedestals and other creative options. I prefer to hang the shows myself but am always willing to work with other artists. Any quilt items that come into the gallery must be on an inventory form for insurance purposes. Items can be for sale or display only. If artists would like to make their quilts available for sale, the gallery assumes a 30% consignment rate and takes care of all sales, taxes, and payment. Checks are issued within two weeks of close of monthly sales.

We pride ourselves on thoughtfully exhibited beautiful fine art and traditional craft. If you or your club is interested in being part of this exhibit please contact me as soon as possible. I will notify artists of approval as I review their submissions.

I would need an inventory of all quilts to be exhibited before inventory comes in, and I need all quilts delivered to NCCA-Artsplace, 13 East Main Street, Fremont, by Monday September 30. I will be hanging the show that Monday and the following Tuesday.

Please let me know if you are interested!
