Lou Hooker

Lou is an author who was born in Fremont, Michigan, in 1936. He attended Brookside School in the country through the fourth grade. He then attended Fremont Christian School and later graduated from Fremont Public High School in 1954. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1964 and later got his Masters Degree also. He taught elementary school and taught grades 4th-6th for 31 years in Western Michigan before retiring  in 1995. From 1992-2000, he served as Sheridan Township Treasurer. His youngest daughter, Becky, encouraged him to write the story of his childhood, so THE YEAR OF THE FIRE, DOG DAYS ON THE FARM, and PUPPIES AND PET CROWS came to be. He and his wife, Verla, have two daughters, a son and eight grandchildren and now live on Fremont Lake in Western Michigan.
