This one hour, once a week, series is designed to arm you with basic drawing techniques that can be used across many artistic disciplines. These are skills you can add you your “toolbox” for all future artistic endeavors. 9”x12” sketch pad required.

Use nippers, cutters, patterns and your own creativity to piece together a stunning mosaic image using a glass on glass technique on an 8” glass block drilled to be used as a vase or lit up with fairy lights.

Students will use plasticine clay to develop their tile design, cast a mold in plaster, then press and glaze multiples of their fine art clay tile. Glaze firing scheduled 2 weeks after last class.

Learn the art of collage landscaping. Feathered Friends 8”x8.” You will amaze yourself at how easy it is to create a simple fabric landscape of a vibrant cardinal (February 4) and cuddly chickadees (February 25). Prepare to have a great time expressing your creativity through fabric!

Thursday 6:00-8:30 p.m. February 15 & 22
Class Fee: $65 ($60 Members) Ages 16-Adult
The copper foil technique method made popular
by L.C. Tiffany at the turn of the century, involves
wrapping the pieces of glass with copper foil and
soldering them together along the length of the seams.
Using cutting, grinding, copper foiling and soldering
skills students will use a variety of colors of art glass
and bevels to create a quilt block style pattern project.
This two day class is limited to 10 participants.

Glass Bead Lampworking

Thursday 6:00-8:30 p.m. February 1
Class Fee: $55 ($50 Members) Ages 16-Adult
The term lampwork is derived from the Venetian tradition
which is known as “a lume” which means at the lamp.
Lampwork simply means that the beads have been
worked over a flame. Participants will use hothead
torches, MAPP gas and Italian glass rods to create one
of a kind art glass beads. Each student will use a variety
of sculpting tools, rods, stringers and frit to create at least
6 glass beads using basic bead building, dots, lines, and
shaping techniques. Limited to 8 participants.

Clay Handbuilding with Lesa VanSingel

Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. February 1, 8
Class Fee: $45 ($40 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Come and get muddy! In this class participants will
learn the basics of working with stoneware clay including
joining pieces together, adding texture, using a
slump mold, and glaze application. The first week will
be spent in construction and the second week will be
Clay Hand Building spent glazing. This is a great class to take with a friend.

Zentangle® Inspired Art: Renaissance Gold Class with Georgianna Klein

Class Fee: $35 ($30 Members)

Ages 14-Adult

Prerequisite: Basics Class

Adding gold foil to your Zentangle Inspired Art can really make it pop. You will add gold to a Renaissance tan Zendala (round) and finish it, using both familiar and new tangle patterns and colored pencil shading. In addition, you will add gold to other tiles to be tangled at home. Bring your Basics Kit bag. Other materials will be supplied.
