Leather is a wonderful art medium used to create both decorative and functional works of art. Using engraving, embossing and stamping tools under the supervision of artist Roxanne Middleton, students will design and tool their own unique design into a fashionable leather cuff.
This class is designed to introduce students to creating and using glass patterns, precise cutting and grinding of stained glass pieces, foiling of glass and bevels, soldering foiled glass pieces, and finishing a stained glass heart with patinas and wax. When complete have the confidence to use these skills to try a bigger project on your own in our glass classroom! All tools provided.
Come and join experienced instructor Deb Emerick and transform an old window into a colorful mosaic design using stained glass and other materials. Deb will guide you through the process of designing your window and then implementing your design using glass cutting and mosaic skills. Bring a friend or family member and work on a window together. You may stop in and select a window before class begins. *Note day change for grouting.
Come and spend a colorful day learning the art of batik. Batik involves applying melted wax and colorful dyes to fabric. In this class you will learn how to use plain white cotton fabric, hot wax, and a rainbow of dyes to create pieces of batik fabric to use in your next creative sewing project, or use as a wall hanging! Bring a lunch. No experience necessary.
Participants will learn the creative technique of metal etching in this one day jewelry class with Casey Bemis. Designing, blocking and masking with enamel, acid etching, patina application and hammering will all be part of this hands on art adventure Students will break for lunch while the copper is etching. Pack a lunch or take a brief walk to Mixed Media Painting one of our local restaurants.
Come and try glass fusing with glass artist, Linda Moore. Each student will create two 6” x 6” panels of fused glass that when finished will be layered in a wood stand to give the illusion of depth. Whether it is a birch forest, field of flowers or your own idea the technique is exciting. Pieces will be available for pick up after July 1. Start planning where you will display this unique piece in your home.
Tulips bring a joyful burst of color in spring! Come capture some of that springtime joy with a painting night! Leave your perfectionist ideas behind and embrace the carefree brush strokes and playful splatters of these happy flowers. Kristi will share some of her favorite acrylic techniques that help make painting simple and fun for anyone! We will be creating multiple paintings on 8” x 10” paper as we learn and practice expressive acrylic techniques together.
Capture the essence of our Lake Michigan shoreline in this unique felted piece. Using wool roving and a barbed needle students will create their piece layer by layer. Students should bring a 4” x 6” frame. This would be a perfect piece for a cottage or a hostess gift.
Express yourself through this wonderful mixed media art form, using found and repurposed objects, foil and acrylic paint to cover an art journal and create a wall hanging. Madelon has a wealth of creative knowledge and an enthusiasm for painting that is contagious. All materials provided.
