Dogwood Exhibit: Patricia Pardee

Stop in to the Dogwood Center Lobby Gallery to enjoy these whimsical colored pencil illustrations inspired by nature. What Patricia Pardee, a Newaygo area artist, has to say about her work:

About Patricia Pardee

From colorful crayons to colored pencils, I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Not until last year (2015) did I decide to let my drawings see the light of day. After putting away my pencils for about six years did I pick them up again, finishing about seven in one year. Drawing for me is a slow process. I’ll spend a few hours on an idea and then put it away for a day or two.
During this time I let the drawing tumble around in my head in order to go back to it with fresh ambition. My drawings represent the infinite world of nature, unified with the imagination, creating what I hope is a dream like resonance for the viewer.

Dogwood Box Office hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and two hours prior to an event. For more information please contact the Dogwood Box Office at 231.924.8885. Lobby Gallery also open during events.

The detail in these intricate drawings almost make the viewer believe we could smell, taste or feel the subject dripping off the page. Worth a visit in person just to see for yourself the photorealistic quality of these drawings.

Originally from the East side of the state, Samantha now lives and works in Grand Rapids, where she received her BFA in Illustration from Kendall College of Art andSam2w Design.
