Jewelry Workshop: Metalsmithing with Casey Bemis

Ages 14-Adult

In this workshop students will learn to work with metalsmithing tools to fashion a one-of-a-kind set of earrings and pendant. Copper, brass and white brass will be used for a variety of colors. Students may add texture to their pieces using a variety of jewelry hammers. Your original designs will be finished with patinas. Check out examples of Casey’s work in the NCCA-Artsplace Artist Market. Bring a lunch.

Create a gorgeous silver wrapped coil bead and walk away with a beautiful leather and silver bracelet and a confident understanding of basic metal clay techniques. Beginners will enjoy this low pressure introduction to metal clay using Silver Art Clay and a mandrel as they begin to practice good habits and discover appropriate uses of torch and kiln methods. Participants will leave wearing and showing off their new creation!
