SUMMARY:Sue Brodbeck - Oil Painting
DESCRIPTION:Sue Brodbeck – Oil Painting\nAugust 26 – September 27\nRay & Phyllis Jansma Gallery \nat NCCA-Artsplace\n13 E. Main St.\, Fremont\, 231-924-4022. \nSue Brodbeck is a Michigan native. Her teaching career took her and her husband to the Detroit metro area. They now split their time between Dearborn and the Straights of Mackinac where they summer in a log cabin in the woods which acts as inspiration for many of Sue’s paintings. Sue states\, “I enjoy travel throughout the United States where God’s natural world has always inspired me.” Love of waterfalls in the UP led Sue to many of the eastern states to enjoy many more waterfall locations. \nSue has been painting waterfalls for the past ten years. Most of her first paintings came from photographs she had taken. As a plein air artist\, Sue spent the last 5 years returning to Michigan waterfalls to paint them as she experiences them on location. Sue has been a professional artist since retiring from teaching childhood art education in the early 2000’s. She studied art formally at Henry Ford Community College\, Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center\, and Sea and Sky classes with Edward Duff. \nSue’s work is influences by the post impressionist movement\, using a palette knife to lay in her colors\, expressing movement and dynamic color combinations to capture rocks\, tress and water of her landscapes. This unique way of painting creates both bold color and rich texture in the surface of the oils. \nShare this:ShareFacebookTwitterPrintEmailLinkedInPinterest

SUMMARY:NCCA-Artsplace Exhibit: Paintings by Lori McElrath-Eslick and Vicki Beyer
DESCRIPTION:Paintings by \nLori McElrath-Eslick and Vicki Beyer\nExhibit – July 24 – August 31\nReception Friday\, July 26\, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.\nJansma Gallery at NCCA-Artsplace\, \n13 E. Main St.\, Fremont\, 231-924-4022. \nLori McElrath-Eslick\nLori states\, “As a Kendall grad\, and one of the few from Kendall who is hired by Hallmark Cards in Kansas City as a greeting card artist\, they demand that level of all the artists that they recruit and hire from around the country\, and world\, so I’ve worked hard all of my working artist life to create art to the best of my skills. Now as a children’s book author and illustrator\, I’ve illustrated 20 plus picture books a few are also in watercolor. That said\, to paint at any level is to have fun. Art should be about having fun.” \nVicki Beyer\n“Art has been a lifelong passion for me. It’s always a challenge to capture the line & colors of what I see or from my imagination. My father was my earliest influence\, as he enjoyed drawing funny doodles on me & my siblings\, like a fox chasing a rabbit towards a hole that also doubled as my belly button\, a worm crawling out of my ear\, a bee on the end of my nose\, etc.” \n“Over the years\, I made my living as a Registered Nurse and raised two children\, and continued to work on my art skills. Currently I am retired\, living on a small lake outside Baldwin\, MI. My medium of choice is acrylic & oil\, but love to experiment in 3 D & mixed media. My focus is frequently on the beauty of nature that surrounds us in Michigan\,” says Vicki. \n  \nShare this:ShareFacebookTwitterPrintEmailLinkedInPinterest
