NCCA-Artsplace Exhibit: Missy Morrow

March 24, 2018 @ 9:00 am - April 28, 2018 @ 2:00 pm

Missy Morrow
March 24 – April 28

Public Reception April 19, 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Jansma Gallery at NCCA-Artsplace,
13 E. Main St., Fremont.

A love for both technology and nature make Morrow’s work unique. Prior to devoting her life full time to her art, Missy was a coatings engineer working in the manufacturing sector for 17 years, with 8 of those years being at Herman Miller. Missy wants her work to be thought provoking yet not condescending to the viewer. “It is important to me that my work is enjoyable and allows the viewer a moment’s respite from worldly anxieties, as they can be overwhelming at times. I want my understanding and use of design, color and subject matter to leave them with a feeling of calm and wellbeing. My subject matters range from birds in nature to the nostalgic with vintage bicycles and wallpaper patterns, often times putting the two together. I want my work to bring simplicity to an often cluttered world.” She considers painting a personal necessity, always taking the time to let ideas flow and capturing them on canvas.

Missy’s natural painterly style combines bold graphic layout with stunning representational still life objects, birds and landscapes. She studied Graphic Illustration at the Center for Creative Studies and is currently pursuing fine art painting. Her acrylic work has recently been displayed in exhibitions at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Holland Area Arts Council, and the Muskegon Museum of Art, LaFontsee Galleries, and Ann Connelly Gallery in Baton Rouge.
