Glass art is an ancient craft that evolved from crafting small decorative beads in early Mesopotamia and Egypt to modern fusing and assemblage techniques. The craft was revolutionized by the Roman invention of glassblowing which transformed a rare, precious luxury into an accessible medium for delicate vessels and vibrant architectural installations.
This multifaceted exhibit focuses on the many ways raw, earthly materials like silica are transformed into glass art. Enjoy stained glass, fused glass, mosaic, blown glass, leaded glass and glass lampwork beads. Artwork by Bobby Luce, Eric Brown, Deb Medendorp, Kris Vredeveld, George Bochnig, Mary Anderson, Maria Orr and more will be included in this glass arts exhibit.
Enjoy live demonstrations and talk to artists during our exhibit open house on Saturday, September 19, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
