Fused glass is a fun art form that anyone can enjoy. These bright ornaments will be a hit for the holidays. Instruction focuses on proper use of tools, layering fusible glass and using fun designs to create up to three ornaments. Hot cocoa bar provided, feel free to bring snacks!

the FACF Youth Advisory Committee.

These exciting and exploratory art classes are designed
to give middle and high school students a chance to learn
about art styles and mediums they might not get in a
classroom. All materials provided.

November 14 Fused Glass Ornaments
Using glass cutting tools, frit, stringers and a wide variety
of fusible glass, students will make two of their own unique
ornaments to be fired in the kiln.

Class Fee: $30 ($25 Members) Ages 16-Adult
Spend a summer evening discovering the art of glass
fusing. In this class you will learn to cut glass and use
frit, glass paint, art glass and stringers in your creations.
Learn about layering and COE. Prepare to make at least
four ornaments. After the fusing process the ornaments
will be ready for pick up after July 22.

Fused Glass Nativity with Lindsay Isenhart

Saturday, November 10 from 10:00-11:30 a.m.

Class Fee: $35 ($30 Members)

Ages 16-Adult

Learn about different types of glass for fusing, correctly use tools for cutting glass, add frit, stingers and dots for layering and adding detail, all to create a beautiful fused glass nativity ornament. Class is taught with a step by step pattern, individualized with color and texture choices. One ornament per person, all materials provided. Pieces will be fired by NCCA-Artsplace staff and can be picked up on or after November 16.

Fused Glass Layered Panels with Linda Moore

Thursday, August 16 & 23, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Class Fee: $60 ($55 Members)

Ages 16-Adult

Come and try glass fusing with glass artist, Linda Moore. Each student will create two 6” x 6” panels of fused glass that when finished will be layered in a wood stand to give the illusion of depth. Whether it is a birch forest, field of flowers or your own idea the technique is exciting. Pieces will be available for pick up after August 30. Start planning where you will display this unique piece in your home

Fused Glass Pendant with Hollie Benson

Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. July 19, 26

Class Fee: $50 ($45 Members)

Ages 16-Adult

In this class students will learn the art of glass fusing using multiple colors of fusing glass and dichroic patterned glass. The first week will start with simple glass cutting techniques and layering of glass pieces. The following week students will learn to cut channels into their pieces and wrap them with wire.

September 21 Glass Bead Making
Using Italian glass rods and hot head torches students will create several unique glass beads to fit a leather cuff.
September 28 Silver Clay
Cristine Grim will teach students the process of using silver clay, texture tools, and torch firing to create a silver pendant.
October 5 Needle Felted Bat with Olivia
Fiber artist Olivia Johnson will help students use felting needles, wool roving and embroidery materials to create a flying bat for Halloween festivities!
October 19 Theatrical Makeup
A paint based method of creating optical illusion, depth, and dramatic character on the human face. Students will work on themselves in addition to watching a live model demonstration. Just in time for costume planning!

Using glass cutting tools, frit, stringers and a wide variety of fusible glass, students will make two of their own unique ornaments to be fired in the kiln.
November 30 Silk Painting
A great gift idea, or a fashion accessory for fall, students will use resist and dye to paint a long silk scarf.
December 7 & 14 Portfolio Building
To prepare for college applications, scholarships and exhibits, artists need a good portfolio. Participants need to bring artwork to photograph, a resume and will complete a physical portfolio and a digital portfolio on a flash drive. Must attend both days!
