Students will create charcoal drawings from a live model using proportion, gesture, weighted line and blocking in of light values.

Ages 9-12.

If you love to draw, this is the class for you! Students will be using ink, pencil, charcoal, color pencil and pastel to draw subjects inspired by nature, from contour lines of driftwood, to the bold pastels of a summer landscape plein air (outside) if weather allows. Go home with your own mini drawing kit to keep creating all summer long.

Fine Arts Sampler with Lindsay Isenhart September 21 Charcoal & Graphite Drawing

Thursdays 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Ages 16-Adult
Class Fee $35 each ($30 Members)
These introductory classes use simple and similar subjects to explore different fine art mediums in each class. Great way to explore your interests without a huge investment of time and money! All materials provided. November 9 and 16 Block Printing requires students attend both days.

Keep an eye out for Art Glass Sampler series January/February 2018. Students will be sampling easy introductory Stained Glass, Fused Glass, Glass Beads, and Glass Mosaic projects.

Hana Sawyer – Turbulance – October 14 through December 20

HanaHana’s charcoal and graphite work evokes a sense of the power of nature, the changing currents of life, it’s beginnings and turbulent moments. These powerful abstract drawings are at once familiar and distant. Themes of both destruction, creation and the expanse of our universe come to mind when viewing these powerful drawings.

Hana has recently had pieces from this series accepted into the Muskegon Museum of Art Regional Show, Grand Rapids Festival and Artprize 2014. We’re thrilled to have her work at the Dogwood Center. A reception will be held on November 8, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Dogwood Center for Performing Arts. Stop in and see her work October 14 through December 20, 2014
