Presented by West Michigan Bonsai Club Co-President Joe Chirco
Joe Chirco is the co-president of the West Michigan Bonsai Club and is a board member of the American Bonsai Society. Joe has taught classes for the bonsai 101 and The Art of Companion Plants at Fredrick Meijer Gardens. He and his wife Tina have had their bonsai trees accepted into the Nation Bonsai Exhibition in New York and have won awards for their trees in Chicago and Frederic Meijer Gardens. Art of the Bonsai Pot – Lindsay Isenhart
Sat., March 4      10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Ages 16+      $60 ($55 Members)
Use traditional shapes, proportions, and learn about the proper drainage and wiring holes needed to create your own Bonsai pot! Use pinch, coil and slab techniques with high fire clay to complete one miniature bonsai and one medium bonsai pot. Have your pots ready for exciting Bonsai classes to come in March led by members of the West Michigan Bonsai Club!

Japanese Larch workshop- JOE CHIRCO
Saturday, March 18       10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Ages 16+        $60 ($55 Members)
Japanese larch make beautiful bonsai, however, it is best to work on them before the leaves come out. In this workshop you will choose the style that you want to create. Then Transplant the tree into bonsai soil and its new pot. You will apply basic wiring, make branch selections and create the basic structure for your new bonsai. Includes materials for one potted larch bonsai project. Additional trees will be available for purchase if you would like to do a forest or clump style.

 

 

Bonsai workshop – Mugo Pine – JOE CHIRCO
Saturday, March 25      10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Ages 16+       $60 ($55 Members)
You will learn how to choose the best style for your tree and how to pick out the front. We will then transplant your tree into bonsai soil and its new pot. Finally you will learn basic wiring and how to style and care for your new tree. All materials included for an 8” TO 10” tree.
