Bring some friends or make some new ones in this fun series of painting classes! Learn acrylic painting basics from color theory to brush use with artist, Sharon Smithem. Sharon is a painting and mosaic muralist with a BFA in fine art from Kendall College. Her work has been exhibited throughout Michigan, including the “Donor Tree” mosaic at Tamarac Wellness Center in Fremont! If you have been wanting to experiment with acrylic painting, Sharon is the perfect instructor to help you find your inner art with her Art Uncork’d series! In each of the classes students will complete a 16”x20” canvas that is ready to hang on the wall or give to a friend. All skill levels are welcome so call your friends, bring a snack or beverage to share, and come to one or both of these great classes at NCCA-Artsplace!

Exploring Printmaking with Andrew Jagniecki

Ages 14-Adult

If you have never explored the art of printmaking then this is the perfect opportunity. Andrew’s focus as a printmaker is capturing scenes from the natural environment. Join him in learning about the art of linoleum printmaking. In this class students will learn to compose a strong design, transfer the image to linoleum, use carving tools, and then apply ink to create a series of reduction prints that could be framed or become unique greeting cards. Printmaking is an exciting art form that has broad appeal. Pick up a design guide sheet at the NCCA-Artsplace in preparation for the class. Bring a lunch.

Glass on Glass Mosaic Windows with Deb Emerick

Get ready to capture the beauty of the sun streaming though colorful glass.  Come and join mosaic artist, Deb Emerick, and transform an old window into a colorful work of art using stained glass and other materials.  Deb will guide you through the process of designing your window and then implementing your design using glass cutting and mosaic skills.  Bring a family member and work on a window together.  You may bring your own window or you may stop in at the NCCA-Artsplace and select your window before the class sessions begin.  Class size limited.

Class Fee: $100 ($90 Members) $10 Discount if you bring your own window

New EVENING Session! Clay Nativity for Children with Kris Vredeveld

Prepare for the Christmas season by hand building a clay nativity set. Each child will create a minimum of 6 figurines including people and animals. When dry the finished pieces will be glazed a single color and fired. This set will become a family treasure for many years.
