Northern Lights Sky Painting

Class Fee: $10 Ages 8-14

Using watercolor washes and acrylic paint, artists will recreate the bold colors and whimsy of northern lights.

Watercolor Workshop – Autumn Birch Landscape with Cheryl Gould October 21

Saturday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. October 21
Class Fee: $60 ($55 Members) Ages 16-Adult
In this class participants will learn a variety of techniques in watercolor including spattering, textural effects, masking, lifting, stamping and negative painting. A short review of color theory will begin the day and then students will work on painting an autumn forest landscape. Bring a lunch.

Fine Arts Sampler with Lindsay Isenhart November 2 Watercolor Painting

Thursdays 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Ages 16-Adult
Class Fee $35 each ($30 Members)
These introductory classes use simple and similar subjects to explore different fine art mediums in each class. Great way to explore your interests without a huge investment of time and money! All materials provided. November 9 and 16 Block Printing requires students attend both days.

Keep an eye out for Art Glass Sampler series January/February 2018. Students will be sampling easy introductory Stained Glass, Fused Glass, Glass Beads, and Glass Mosaic projects.

Watercolor Winterscape with Cheryl Gould

Class Fee: $55 ($50 Members)

Ages 16-Adult
In this class we will work with the basic elements of a winter landscape; sky, snow, trees and sunlight. We will be pouring, spraying, spattering, salting, stamping, and also using brushwork to create a winter scene. Perhaps it will be something you could use for a Christmas card? Several photos will be provided as reference material, but also feel free to bring you own reference photos to work from. We may be working on several scenes during the day in order to let the paintings dry between steps. Bring a lunch.

Helen Percy Lystra lives in Grand Haven, and w6 7 treeorks full time as an artist. She paints, makes jewelry, does printmaking, and likes to experiment with many different ways of making art. Her favorite subjects are old boats, old structures and flowers. Most recently a love of fabric has worked its way into her art as well. Of her varied media she says: “My grandmother always said Jack of all trades, master of none. I’ve changed it, I’m a master at being a Jack of all trades.”

the lady in the moonLystra grew up on Union Lake in Commerce Township, Michigan and began drawing and designing at an early age. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University and studied at Hillsdale College and at the Art Institute of Chicago. Her study continues with ongoing workshops.

Explore Watercolors in a Day with Cheryl Gould

Saturday 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

May 16

Ages 16-Adult

In this class participants will learn a variety of techniques in watercolor including pouring, spattering, textural effects, masking, lifting, stamping and negative painting. A short review of color theory will begin the day. We will then work on several images with a spring theme during the day in order to allow drying time for each. Do not expect to take home a finished piece, but do expect to have fun, learn lots of techniques unique to watercolors, and be inspired to head off on your own watercolor adventure. We will be using watercolor paper and paints, spray bottles, sponges, plastic wrap, salt, masking fluid, toothbrushes, clear contact paper, exacto knives, and the occasional paint brush. Bring a lunch.
