Come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine
Grimm, in exploring Art Clay the clay that turns to
99.9% pure silver when fired. Start out small, making
earrings or small pendants with basic techniques
that can be used anywhere, anytime, without a kiln.
Cristine is a master instructor who will bring all the
tools and tricks necessary to create something you’ll
enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project.
Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary
tools, and a necklace and jump ring for wearing out
the door.

Stunning in Silver: Leaf Ring with Cristine Grimm

Prerequisite: Stunning in Silver Class

Now that you have taken the basic class with Cristine it
is time to advance to the next step. In this class you will
use Art Clay, the clay that turns to 99.9% silver to create a
beautiful leaf ring. Keep it simple or take the time to add a
colorful cubic zirconia.

Jeweler’s Bench: Metalsmithing Pendant with Casey Bemis

This is a rare opportunity to explore the art of crafting metal jewelry. Just imagine wearing a one-of-a-kind pendant made by your own hands. Students will learn to combine found objects and traditional metalsmithing techniques such as cutting, texturing and forming metal. Cold connections will be employed to make unique pieces. Jeweler’s Bench: Beaded Necklace and Earring Design with Julie Prins

Thursday 5:30-8:30 p.m. August 27

Ages 14-Adult

In this class participants will learn to use basic jewelry making tools and findings while designing their own matching set of necklace and earrings. Julie will skillfully guide you in exploring the endless combinations of interesting and colorful beads as you create your own unique fashion statement. Equipped with these new skills, students will be able to continue creating pieces at home. Call a few friends and take this class together.

Jeweler’s Bench: Metal Bracelets with Casey Bemis

Join jewelry artist Casey Bemis in the art of metalsmithing. In this class Casey will guide students through the process of creating a shaped and textured linked bracelet with rivets. Jeweler’s Bench: Classic Chainmaille Technique with Casey Bemis

Ages 16-Adult

In this class participants will learn to construct a
chainmaille necklace in the classic helm pattern. These
chains are constructed using pliers and two gauges of
jump rings. Each person should complete a necklace
and perhaps earrings if time allows. After mastering this
technique continue making pieces at home. Call some
friends and make this a fun, learning experience and
social gathering.

China Pendants with Tracy Kehr

Have you been saving a piece of your grandmother’s china for sentimental value? It is time to take that piece to the NCCA-Artsplace and transform it into a pendant. Tracy will show you how to mount pieces into a circle, rectangle or heart shaped cabochon. Thin china pieces produce the best results. What a great way to keep that special person close to your heart.

Polymer Clay Bead Making with Casey Bemis

We have a fun idea for Valentine’s Day. Gather a group of friends or family of all ages and come to the NCCA-Artsplace and learn about bead making with polymer clay. Casey will demonstrate how to make an assortment of beads including Pandora-style, simple cane, folded, textured, stippled, carved and striped.

In this class jewelry artist, Casey Bemis, will guide you through the process of using metalsmithing skills to design your own unique earrings. Be prepared to use tools to hammer texture into your metal, use cold connections, cut shapes and then use appropriate findings to put your pieces all together.
