Intro to Metal Smithing – Cabochon Bezel Setting

Andrea Huntley will discuss the different metals available to create jewelry, and the hardness of the metals. Pre-made cabochons will be selected at the time of class. Working with sterling silver or argentium silver, we will create a backed bezel setting, learn the basics of soldering, the importance of pre filing to ensure a perfect fit, and options for attaching a bail. Students will complete a pendant set in a silver bezel, with an understanding of soldering basics.

Stunning in Silver with Cristine Grimm – Basic Silver Clay Class

In this basics class come and join certified Art Clay instructor, Cristine Grimm, in exploring Art Clay the clay that turns to 99.9% pure silver when fired. Start out small, making earrings or small pendants with basic techniques that can be used anywhere, anytime, without a kiln. Cristine is a master instructor who will bring all the tools and tricks necessary to create something you’ll enjoy wearing or adding to your next beading project. Cost includes silver clay, the use of all necessary tools, and a necklace and jump ring for wearing out the door.

Beaded Potawatomi Daisy Chain Bracelet with Nadine Andrews

If you draw some of your beading roots from Native American artwork, or Bohemianism, then you’ll want to add Potawatomi weave to your repertoire. This simple yet sturdy stitch contains a pattern that can be adapted to look just like a neat little row of daisies, and once you get it started, the steps are simple to remember. To get a traditional looking daisy chain, we will use a basic palette of opaque and transparent seed beads. Nadine Andrews has been working with fine bead weaving and jewelry design for over 30 years. Each student will take home a kit to make more bracelets on their own!

Jewelry Workshop: Metal Cuff Bracelet with Rivets with Casey Bemis

March 25

Ages 14-Adult

In this workshop students will learn to work with metalsmithing tools to fashion a one-of-a-kind metal cuff bracelet with rivets. Copper, brass and white brass will be used for a variety of colors. Students will add texture to their pieces using a variety of jewelry hammers. Your original designs will be finished with patinas to make them shine.
