Students will use metal tooling techniques to design and create a tiger mask with vivid colors and patterns. The mask can be placed in a stand for display.

Participants will learn about glass fusing, slumping and the use of frit, stringers, fusible glass and glass paint to create a slumped fused glass tealight candle holder.

Learn to use colored frit, paint, findings and epoxy to create a brilliant pendant in silver tray bail.

Clay Reptiles

Participants will hand build reptiles with stoneware clay, using textures, slip and more. Student will choose from 3 different high fire glaze colors to have their reptiles finished. Pick up fired projects on or after June 30.

Stained Glass Silhouette
Trace your favorite design onto copper foil, then use precision cutting, and soldering to create a stunning silhouette on fine art glass.

 

 

Wednesday, July 7
Pyrography!
Students transfer unique designs to raw edge wood slices. Using a variety of different hot tips, students will burn texture and depth into their images. Pyrography is a fun and diverse skill used in many woodworking artforms.

 

 

Wednesday, July 21
Watercolor Silhouette Painting
Using techniques of salt, resist, bleed, and wash, students will work from their favorite silhouette to create a dynamic watercolor painting.

 

 

Wednesday, Aug 4
Glass Bead Making
Using Italian glass rods and hot head torches, students will create several unique glass beads.

Shade, burnish, layer and blend color pencils to achieve a very lifelike rendering of a coneflower. There are many tricks and techniques to using colored pencil to create beautiful, color artwork. Anita will introduce you to many of them providing all the materials necessary plus some informational handouts to bring home and encourage more drawing with color pencil! Bring a lunch.

Let’s Go Diving! with Kelly features some of her best diving worldwide. She will take you to the Caribbean with the famous sharks in the Bahamas, Cozumel, known for its fast currents, Bonaire, where the aquarium like waters are abundant with sea life, Grand Cayman, a wall divers dream and Roatan, known for its large coral swim throughs and large aquatic animals. We will also dive the Pacific ocean, Hawaii, where there is seven times the reef life found in the Caribbean. Galapagos, made famous by Charles Darwin, is where the north and south currents collide. Australia, known for the Great Barrier Reef, and twenty one times the amount of sea life than found in Hawaii. Papua New Guinea brings in a new world of diving by adding muck diving as well as reef dives. The Indian Ocean, known as the Ring of Fire, has many small island countries residing within this area including Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Maldives all known to have some of the best diving in the world. Join Kelly and her presentation of the worlds best diving and the beautiful marine life that lives beneath the waves.

Fan carving is the process of slicing wood into thin blades (feathers) and then turning and interlocking them to create a 3-dimensional design from one piece of wood. Bruce has mastered this bird carving technique and is anxious to share it with you. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a master. Another traditional art form that requires few tools and can go with you anywhere!
